Ball Python, Python regius
Ball pythons (Python regius) are native to Central and Western Africa. Adults of this species top out at about 5 feet when fully grown, which make them suitable as pets, for more people than the larger species of pythons.

They get their common name from their habit of rolling up in a ball when they feel threatened. Ball pythons are docile, and easy to handle snakes, for the most part. There are a huge number of morphs to choose from, with Ball pythons, so just about everybody can find one that catches their eye.
